The Walking Stories Project

Have you ever been on a walk that has a story to tell?
Do you have a favourite walk, or perhaps one that holds particular significance?
Would you like to share the story of your walk with other walkers AND hear their stories in return?

Whether it’s a quiet stroll through a park, a bustling city exploration, or a trek in the wilderness, your thoughts and stories are invaluable. We’d love to hear about your experiences and personal relationship with walking, including those moments of reflection, inspiration, or even the unexpected encounters along your path.

Walking Stories is a research project that aims to better understand the ways in which individuals simultaneously develop and shape personal narratives during the course of their walks. But more than that – we want to explore the myriad of creative ways that your stories can be captured, recorded, and documented.

So, we need your stories – and your creativity!

Submit your walks and share your story in any format that speaks to you – be it a poem, a short written narrative, drawings, photography, audio, video, or even a sculpture.

By contributing, you’ll be part of a tapestry of voices that celebrate the beauty of walking and storytelling.  Help to build a collection of shared journeys that inspire and connect us.

Walking Stories is a doctoral research project and has received ethical approval via Leeds Beckett University’s Research Ethics process.
